At Northern Districts Security, we pride ourselves on providing top-notch training and a supportive environment for our team members. In our recent case study, Ripeka, one of our recent recruits, shares her journey as a member of the Northern Districts Security team.
Training for a Strong Foundation
When Ripeka joined Northern Districts Security, she brought with her a passion for community safety and a desire to make a difference. In preparation for her role as a City Safe officer, Ripeka underwent a training course that allowed her to obtain her temporary Certificate of Approval (COA) from New Zealand’s Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority. This training was not only informative but also instrumental in honing her conflict de-escalation skills, a crucial aspect of her role in keeping both herself and the community safe.
Part of the Northland Community
Ripeka’s favourite part of her job is getting out into the Northland community. As a natural “people person” she loves meeting and chatting with individuals from all walks of life. Every day presents a new opportunity for her to engage with the community, which is a major part of what makes her role truly special.
A Supportive Team Environment
The Northern Districts Security team has become like a second family to Ripeka. She speaks highly of the supportive management and the solidarity among her teammates, and this welcoming environment has made her feel right at home from day one. “The NDS team is awesome,” she says. “Management is super supportive, and my teammates are like family. I’m super grateful for the whole team.”
A Role for Personal Growth
In her role, Ripeka has encountered challenging situations, including dealing with aggressive individuals, and these experiences have been invaluable learning opportunities for her. She’s gained a deeper understanding of herself, how she handles conflict and stressful situations, and overall, it has boosted her confidence. “It’s been a great learning experience for me to see how I deal with that,” she shares. “it’s given me more confidence to deal with that in the future.”
A New Chapter with Northern Districts Security
Ripeka initially joined Northern Districts Security to gain experience in the community. Her dedication and hard work have paid off, as she has now been accepted as an authorised officer by NZ Police. While she’s excited about this new chapter in her career, Ripeka is also sad to leave the Northern Districts Security team: “I’ll always have fond memories, and I’ve made lifelong friends.”
As Ripeka moves on to her new role, we can’t wait to see her soar. Her journey with Northern Districts Security has been one of growth, learning, and community engagement. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and are confident that she will continue to make a positive impact in her new position.
